What is a Virtual Assistant?

The International Virtual Assistants Association (IVAA) describes a virtual assistant as "an independent entrepreneur providing administrative, creative and/or technical services. Utilizing advanced technological modes of communication and data delivery, a professional VA assists clients in his/her area of expertise from his/her own office on a contractual basis." 

As a member of IVAA, I have access to a wealth of knowledge from VA’s all over the world.  Their online Yahoo! Group has been an invaluable resource to me and to many VA’s in need of assistance outside their own area of expertise, and the IVAA training  & certification options are available to all members.
